Policy Experience: Port of Baltimore

Originally planned as a behind-the-scenes look at port operations and an opportunity to learn about the economic impact the Port of Baltimore has on our state, we have the difficult decision to postpone our spring HYPE: Policy Experience event due to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

After close consultation with our partners at the Port, it is clear they must fully dedicate their resources to response and recovery efforts in this critical time. While this is disappointing, we believe postponing the event is the right thing to do to allow the Port's complete focus on securing their operations and supporting impacted workers and businesses.

We intend to reschedule this event for a later date once the Port's situation becomes more certain.

Recently, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce visited the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore County to host its kick-off for the new HYPE (Helping Young Professionals Excel) event series. With nearly 100 young professionals in the room, we learned how Guinness drove economic growth while investing in communities and supporting nonprofits.
