Commentary: Marylanders can’t afford the cost of a climate superfund
Oct 26, 2026
Maryland is considering whether to pursue a climate superfund law that would require fossil fuel companies to pay billions of dollars toward climate-related costs, following a study expected Dec. 1, 2026. Policymakers should carefully evaluate the economic impacts, legal risks and potential consequences for taxpayers before advancing a climate superfund policy.
