Join the Fight for Maryland's Future

Maryland is at a critical crossroads. Families face rising costs for housing, childcare and everyday essentials. Small businesses struggle under regulatory burdens, inflation and workforce shortages. And yet, too often, policy solutions focus on extracting more from businesses rather than enabling growth that benefits all Marylanders. The Maryland Chamber is leading the fight to reverse this trend — but we need your voice, your energy and your action.

Be the Change Maryland Needs

When you join, you become part of a movement that:

  • Raises your voice: Share real stories about the challenges Maryland families and businesses face.
  • Takes action: Testify, advocate and demand policies that create opportunity.
  • Mobilizes your network: Empower colleagues, employees, customers and neighbors to participate.
  • Shapes the future: Influence lawmakers and the public with data-backed, real-world examples and stories.
  • Builds lasting change: Your action helps shape a stronger economy, better schools and thriving communities.

Too often, policy proposals assume that taxing businesses or wealthy individuals will automatically fund public services.

But higher taxes aren’t the only — or even the best — way to strengthen schools, healthcare and public services. In reality, these policies risk slowing growth, cutting career pathways and squeezing the very businesses that generate opportunity. Fair Opportunity focuses on policies that empower businesses, protect residents, and grow communities, producing tangible results for everyone.

Real Maryland Stories of Opportunity

Pohanka Automotive, in Salisbury, built a training center to address a shortage of skilled auto technicians, offering pay while learning and debt-free career paths. Programs like this directly advance workforce development goals, giving students pathways to careers while strengthening local communities.

Kore Fitness, in Harford Country, grew from garage classes to multiple studios, creating jobs and supporting instructors, while promoting health and community connections. Policies that support entrepreneurs don’t just create businesses — they multiply opportunities across communities.

Cured 18th & 21st, in Columbia, serves as a civic anchor, donating space, food and drinks to nonprofits so they can fundraise efficiently. Businesses like Cured strengthen social and economic fabric alike.

The Payoff of Thriving Businesses

When businesses are empowered to grow, they create a ripple effect: students gain career pathways, workers earn stable incomes, communities thrive and public services receive natural funding. Maryland consistently ranks among the top states for public education outcomes, showing that economic growth and strong schools are not in conflict. By contrast, lagging competitiveness means fewer job creators, fewer taxpayers, and greater pressure on the very systems policymakers aim to strengthen.

Stand for policies that support growth, enable entrepreneurship and expand opportunity for families, workers and communities. Empower businesses to invest in people, create jobs and strengthen communities.

Maryland doesn’t need more obstacles — it needs more opportunity. Fair Opportunity isn’t just good for business — it’s good for Maryland. Together, let’s make opportunity the currency of our state’s future.
