10 Ways Your Verizon Wireless Phone Can Make You More Productive

Those of you who attended the June 1 Growing Business, Celebrating Success event on June 1 will remember John Johnson's list of things about your Verizon Wireless phone that can make you more productive. Here is the complete list:

1. Your VZW phone has an email address – it’s your 10-digit number “@vtext.com.”

2. Most VZW phones have built in GPS navigation capabilities you can activate. The most useful is VZ Navigator and it turns your phone into a GPS navigation system delivering verbal turn-by-turn directions.

3. You can manage your workforce using VZW phones, Field Force Manager and other applications that can keep track of your workflow and your people.

4. Many VZW phones can be tethered to laptop computers to serve as wireless broadband modems.

5. You can use your VZW phone to search Google by TXT message to 466453 (GOOGLE on most devices). For your search query, enter text like “weather NYC” or “AA 2111” to get the weather in NYC or the arrival / departure times for American flight 2111. Enter an area code or zip code to learn its geographic location. Enter “define zenith” to learn the word’s definition.

6. Bookmark your favorite web sites on your VZW phone’s Mobile Web browser so you are only three clicks away from that site at all times. Then when you want to show clients a particular site, you’re ready for a quick demonstration.

7. Text messaging is a secret weapon built in to virtually every digital phone.

8. You can receive breaking news and information on your VZW phone – like the share price of your company’s stock on the hour, the AP headlines, or any of hundreds of Info Alerts you can choose at vtext.com.

9. You can send a single text message from your VZW phone to reach multiple recipients by setting up a group list with each person’s cell phone number. If you coach kids’ sports, think about how easy it could be to let your players’ parents know that practice is cancelled with a single text message.

10. Your phone can make a 911 call even if it is no longer active on a wireless network.
