Reznick Group’s Riley to be Named Maryland Chamber Chairman

William T. Riley Jr., CPA, a Principal in Reznick Group’s Baltimore Office, will be named Chairman of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors on May 4, during the Chamber’s Annual Meeting.

As Chairman, Riley's goals will be to grow the organization's membership and to increase member engagement in the State Chamber's events and activities. He will lead a strategic planning effort to ensure the Chamber continues to thrive and look for new ways to support Maryland's job creators.

"Bill Riley is a strategic thinker and well respected business leader. His experience makes him the perfect person to lead the Chamber to growth and success in a changing economy," said Maryland Chamber President/CEO Kathleen T. Snyder, CCE.

Riley has served on the Maryland Chamber's Board since 2002. For the last four years, he has served on the Chamber's Executive Committee, where he led the organization's efforts to improve its financial and technology resources to better serve its members.

With 38 years of public accounting experience, Riley has been a principal with Reznick Group since 1979. He recently served as co-managing principal of the Baltimore office where he had overall responsibility for that office, driving Reznick Group’s growth initiatives both locally and nationally. He continues to hold executive management responsibilities for the office.

Riley has experience in a variety of industries, including nonprofit organizations; municipal, state and federal government agencies; construction; real estate; financial services; retail, and small and large commercial businesses. He has advised high-net-worth individuals on tax options and financial strategies and is widely recognized for his knowledge of the real estate and housing markets.

Riley is the immediate past Chair of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. The Red Cross of Central Maryland recently honored him with its prestigious Life Achievement Award. Riley earned a B.S. in accounting from Georgetown University.

Riley will replace Austin J. Slater, Jr., President & CEO of Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, whose leadership over the last two years strengthened the Maryland Chamber’s reputation in Annapolis and ensured the organization’s financial stability, despite the economic downturn.
