Every Maryland employer regardless of size, location, or industry, is impacted by the decisions made in Annapolis. The Maryland Chamber’s primary focus is lobbying decision makers in Annapolis to promote a statewide, pro-business agenda.

The Maryland Chamber has built its reputation as the “Voice of Business” in Annapolis by working to improve the state’s business environment and helping to strengthen its economy. Some of the Chamber’s recent victories include:

• Leading the fight against a wide array of anti-business tax increases.
  
• Encouraging the General Assembly to provide employers a predictable regulatory climate and avoid over-regulating the marketplace, or the workplace.
  
• Defeating numerous bills that would have exposed Maryland businesses to increased liability and lawsuits.
  
• Fighting to defeat or amend environmental bills that would have significantly increased fees and imposed penalties for air, water and waste operations.
