The bill establishes the State goal of achieving a 15% reduction in per capita electricity consumption and peak demand by the end of 2015; requires that, by specified dates, the Public Service Commission shall adopt regulations or issue orders requiring each electric company to procure or provide to specified customers specified energy efficiency and conservation measures and services that are designed to achieve specified energy reduction targets by specified dates; etc

Chamber Position: Support W/Amend Position
Summary: The Maryland Chamber of Commerce understands and supports the State’s effort to address reliability concerns. However, the Maryland Chamber requests an amendment to clarify that such reductions are required only if economically cost-effective.
For these reasons, the Chamber will favor with an amendment.
