Bill Summary: This bill establishes the Maryland Energy Generation Authority, and authorizes the Authority to issue bonds for specified purposes under specified circumstances. It requires the Authority to procure the electric supply on behalf of certain purchasing pool members.

Position Summary: This bill would result in increased electric prices, due to the need to build and produce additional equipment to meet the requirements of this legislation. The bill is counterproductive, and would cost ratepayers additional monies.

For these reasons, the Maryl and Chamber of Commerce opposes this legislation.
