Bill Summary: This bill would create a "Do not mail list" in the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General's office. Persons that mail a solicitation to someone on the list would be subject to damages of up to $5,000 for each violation, and other court ordered relief.

History: SB 548 of 2007 was withdrawn by the sponsor.

Position Summary: This bill would create cumbersome burdens on businesses that mail solicitations to individuals and subject the businesses to unreasonable penalties. Adequate options already exist for persons who wish to opt out from direct mail solicitations.
